Educational outreach goes far beyond simply advocating.

Starting in 2008 a group of fathers, lead by Larry Owens, created Middletown United Fathers as an effort to address our community's fatherhood crisis. The mission of their group is to advocate for men's issues in the areas of education, health, economics and personal and community responsibility.

Their educational outreach goes far beyond simply advocating. The group starting a mentoring program called "Men At School". The program provides opportunities for community members to focus on key issues determined by both the mentors and students regarding academics and school issues such as tardiness, expectations, and what it is to be a man.

Middletown United Fathers also offers an annual Father's Day cookout. The event, which is always free to the public, gives the community and the neighborhood of the North End an opportunity to celebrate fathers and their families. The organization has also recently started a community garden located on the corner of Long Lane and Long Hill Road.
